Hans Christian Anderson’s original story of The Little Mermaid ends very differently from the Disney version. In his version she throws herself from her Prince’s ship at dawn, but there is a whisper of hope. More beautiful than happy ever after. He writes, “as her body dissolves into foam, instead of ceasing to exist, she feels the warm sun and discovers that she has turned into a luminous and ethereal earthbound spirit, a daughter of the air”. This is our inspiration when we set out to sea before dawn to scatter the ashes of beloved pets. The setting moon guides our path and we start by casting a bed of flowers as the first blush of dawn rises from the horizon. Watch our journey as we continue this complimentary service that Tengoku introduced. Run free children of air! Run free!
