So it was with Jaspers Lai when he saw a little abandoned dog cowering in a cardboard box. He couldn’t bear to leave her there so brought her home to live with his boys Cookie and Bobby (another rescue).
Jaspers named her Mimi, and honestly didn’t realise what he had signed up for. Under the guise of showing Mimi round, Cookie played fast and loose with Mimi and left her in the family way. Jasper was midwife to Mimi’s 5 beautiful pups and also their sleep deprived nanny for the first few weeks of their lives. Wonderful, fulfilling experiences that further deepened the bond between Mimi and Jaspers.
A few weeks ago, Mimi suddenly coughed up blood. The family rushed her to the emergency vet. She had to be hospitalised but Jasper expected her to make a full recovery.
Sadly, this was not to be. Sweet Mimi stole away quietly in the night.
